Our Story: Where Sweet Dreams and Purpose Collide
Scoops Baking Co. started the way so many great ideas do—with a heartfelt conversation and a little laughter, like something straight out of The Golden Girls. Picture two dreamers, my best friend and me, sitting around her kitchen island, letting our imaginations run wild. We didn’t just dream up a bakery; we envisioned a space where flavor, health, and community could come together seamlessly. What began as a spark over coffee and conversation quickly grew into a passion—a purpose—transforming into what is now Scoops Baking Co.
Living with chronic conditions like Type 1 Diabetes and Cushing’s Syndrome, I’ve always had a unique relationship with food. I know how one bite can be the difference between joy today and a challenge tomorrow. Food isn’t just fuel—it’s how we care for ourselves, how we heal, and how we connect with others. This understanding shaped every decision I made while building Scoops, from the ingredients we chose to the recipes we created. Every treat is crafted with thoughtfulness, care, and just a touch of joy because I know how much that little bite can mean.
But the path from a kitchen table conversation to a full-fledged bakery wasn’t a straight line. It was anything but easy. The early days were filled with experimentation, countless revisions, and the occasional recipe disaster that left the kitchen looking like a flour-covered war zone. I vividly remember the first time I attempted a gluten-free cookie that fell apart in my hands—laughing through my frustration because I knew I’d eventually get it right. Those late nights weren’t just about perfecting a recipe; they were about proving to myself that I could build something meaningful, something that made a difference.
From the start, my vision was clear: I wanted to create a bakery that welcomed everyone to the table. As a classically trained chef, I’ve spent years mastering the art of flavor, but Scoops was always about more than technique. It was about creating a space where health and indulgence coexist, where people with dietary restrictions or health concerns could feel included rather than excluded. Whether you’re celebrating a milestone, treating yourself after a long day, or sharing dessert with loved ones, I wanted Scoops to be a part of your story—a bakery that feels like home.
And let’s be honest—dessert isn’t just about the food itself. It’s about the memories we associate with it. For me, food has always been a way to connect with others, to share stories, and to carry traditions forward. Every cookie, macaroon, and brownie from Scoops is meant to spark something—whether it’s the comforting nostalgia of a childhood treat or the joy of discovering something new. I wanted to bridge the gap between the carefree indulgence of childhood and the mindful care of adulthood, creating sweets that are just as good for the soul as they are for the body.
But Scoops Baking Co. is more than just a bakery—it’s a reflection of my journey, my values, and my dreams. Every detail, no matter how small, was chosen with intention. From the organic, plant-based ingredients we use to the sustainable, recyclable packaging that holds each treat, every aspect of Scoops reflects a commitment to health, inclusivity, and community. Operating as a cottage kitchen bakery in Plainville, Connecticut, I’ve made it my mission to not only create delicious desserts but to build something that truly gives back.
Sustainability is a cornerstone of everything we do at Scoops. Our small-batch process not only ensures the highest quality and flavor but also helps minimize waste. We work to source local ingredients whenever possible, supporting nearby farms and reducing our carbon footprint. Even our packaging is chosen with care and made from recyclable or compostable materials so you can enjoy your treat while supporting a greener planet.
And then there’s community—a value that has been central to Scoops from day one. This bakery isn’t just about me or even the desserts we create. It’s about the people who believed in this dream when it was just an idea shared over coffee. It’s about the customers who light up when they find a dessert they can enjoy without hesitation. It’s about creating something that connects us all, one treat at a time.
I’ll never forget the first time a customer with severe food allergies told me they hadn’t eaten dessert in years—until they tried Scoops. Seeing their joy was a reminder of why I started this journey. At Scoops, we don’t just make desserts; we create moments of happiness, connection, and belonging.
When you choose Scoops, you’re choosing more than just a treat. You’re choosing to honor your health, celebrate life’s sweetest moments, and support a vision of inclusivity and sustainability. You’re choosing to be part of a story that started around a kitchen island with two dreamers and a whole lot of heart.
So, thank you for being part of this journey. Thank you for believing in a bakery that’s about more than flour and sugar—it’s about creating a world where dessert brings us together, no matter who we are or what we need. Here’s to sweet memories, new beginnings, and delicious moments shared. And who knows? Maybe the next great idea will start around your kitchen table.
